Frequently Asked Questions

Do you sell agriculture equipment?2026-03-27T20:06:52+00:00

No, we do not sell equipment, and we are vendor neutral for equipment installed.

Are there incentives for installing solar, wind, or other types of renewable energy equipment?2026-03-27T20:08:24+00:00

AESAP does not currently incentivize these types of projects. Visit www.pge.com to learn more about renewable energy equipment.

Is there a year-end cutoff date for project submissions?2026-03-27T20:06:52+00:00

Typically, projects need to be submitted in November to provide enough time for verification and submission before the end of the year. Incentives and rebates are also limited by availability of incentive funding which is paid on a first-serve basis until annual incentive budget is exhausted.

What is the inspection process for a project?2026-03-27T20:06:52+00:00

Custom projects typically require a pre-inspection to verify existing conditions and determine baseline usage along with a post-installation inspection to verify savings and installation. Deemed rebates typically require post measurement and verification to confirm equipment is installed and operating as expected. PG&E may also conduct an inspection of their own.

Is there someone who can calculate the energy savings for my project?2026-04-17T05:56:32+00:00

An AESAP team member can help you calculate the energy savings for your qualifying project. Please feel free to call at 833-987-7283 or contact us here.

How are incentive values determined?2026-03-27T20:08:24+00:00

Incentive values are determined based on the claimable benefits of the measure or measures.

How long does the approval process take for a custom project?2026-03-27T20:08:24+00:00

Custom Incentive projects require a pre-approval process which can take several months or more depending on the complexity of the project. Please reach out to us as soon as an opportunity is identified.

What are some the key requirements for a successful custom project?2026-03-27T20:08:24+00:00
  • Required documented proof of Program Influence
  • Subject to statewide guidance and decisions
  • Requirements vary by project -reach out to us for more information
Do you offer incentives for any equipment not listed as a rebate on the AESAP website?2026-04-17T05:57:52+00:00

Yes. Our team can work with you to complete a custom project through AESAP. Incentives are paid based on energy savings and tailored to meet the customer’s needs. Get in touch to learn more.

Can rebate values change throughout the year?2026-04-17T05:58:32+00:00

AESAP tries to avoid changing rebate levels but when they do, they typically occur at the start of a new year. In rare circumstances where a rebate workpaper is updated, which impacts claimable benefits or savings, rebate levels might be adjusted mid-year. We always recommend checking the Rebate Catalog for the most current requirements and rebate values. Please let us know about your rebate opportunity as soon as possible to avoid rebate level changes for projects in progress.

I have already installed my project. Can I still apply for a rebate?2026-03-27T20:07:46+00:00

If your equipment is eligible for a rebate, the customer must submit all required documentation within 60 days of the project completion, SAID activation or invoice paid date (whichever is later). If the project exceeds 60 days, an exception would need to be formally approved. If the project does not qualify for a rebate but does qualify for a custom incentive, it will need to receive pre-approval before any equipment is purchased or installed.

How does the deemed rebate process work?

RECOMMENDED: Reach out to us prior to purchasing equipment to verify that your project qualifies.

There are five steps in the process of applying for a deemed rebate:

  1. Equipment Purchase: You purchase the equipment, making sure it complies with all requirements. If you’re unsure of the requirements, our team can help.
  2. Submit Application: You submit all required documentation requirements listed on the Rebate Catalog so that AESAP can generate an Application and Certification Form for you to sign and return.
  3. Application Review: The AESAP team reviews and completes necessary paperwork to submit the application for review. AESAP will schedule verification inspection.
  4. Signature Stage: Paperwork will be sent to you for final signature.
  5. Rebate Issued: Rebate check will be issued and sent to you.

What is the difference between a rebate and a custom incentive?2026-04-17T06:01:11+00:00
  • Rebates are pre-approved prescriptive, deemed measures that have predefined savings values that pay out rebates for installations and are paid on a per-unit basis. Qualifying equipment can be found on our Rebate Catalog.
  • Custom Incentives are for equipment not included in the Rebate Catalog. For the custom pathway, energy savings are determined using a site-specific analysis (calculations) and are finalized at project completion. Pre-approval is needed prior to purchasing equipment or starting work on a custom project. Incentives are available and typically paid based on customer needs and on a per-savings basis. Documented proof of Program Influence is required.
